Ammo for P239
« on: September 28, 2009, 01:50:52 PM »
Can anyone recommend some good personal defense ammunition for a .40 Sig P239.  I tried a box of Remington 165 grain golden sabers and had numerous jams between the magazine and feed ramp.  I tried a few Federal Hydra-Shocks without any problem but have not been able to find them in stock anywhere recently.  I am currently looking to see what I can find, and will buy a few different brands to test.  Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I will suggest to you, the Pow-R-Ball ammo in the self-defense load. This is a 135 grain bullet that has a velocity of 1240fps (faster actually) and also aids in feeding up the ramp of your semi-auto by way of the round shaped plastic insert in the hollow point bullet. I have my Glock .40 calibers loaded up with these bullets. Now I tested these in wet newspaper and they penetrate about 1 inch less than the Cor-Bon or Speer Gold Dots, however, they will cause much more tissue damage because that bullet FRAGGS apart like a bomb going off inside. They were really wicked on the bundled wet newspaper!!!
