Any Powerbelt Hunters here?

I was thinking about setting up a group of Powerbelt Hunters to use certain Powerbelts/loads for this years hunting season for the Ultimate Field Test.I thought it would be fun for the hunters to find the Powerbelt they want to shoot, pick out a load, sight in, and then hunt with it this year and take pictures "If possible" and take a detailed report/story of the hunt,How the bullet performed, Internal damage, Distance deer travels after being hit, The way the animal acted after being hit. Just a really darn good write up on how that certain bullet/load you used, Performed in the field.

Also, would be nice to see at least Two hunters using the same bullet/load and one taking a shoulder shot and the other taking a lung shot. This would then give the other guys out there, some really good knowledge on how that bullet will perform if they have to take a shoulder/lung shot.

I think the results we each have would be very interesting and fun for everyone who either reads the reports or does the in field testing.

I'll be shooting either the 295,270 or 348g powerbelts this season. + a 224g powerbelt lead round ball in my .54 flintlock.

I have past experience with the 245 g. Aero Tip copper plated. Last year I switched to the 270 Platinum but didn't have a shot. This year I will be hunting with the 270 Platinum over 100g 777. Count me in if you can use me.

Last year I took my encore out with the 295gr powerbelts using two 50gr pellets.  It grouped well at the range, but I never got a shot at a deer.  I'll carry the same thing this year but I won't be able to get out as much as I did last year.

Excellent guys.  2 for the 295's Teddy and my brother,  2 for the 270g platinums rodbow and my father.  As for me, i have not decided what i will be using yet.

I am using 195grain Powerbelt Areo Tip 45cal pushed by 100 grains of T7. I am not sure what load I am going to change in what ML but this one is my first choice. I am probably going to change to Blackhorn 209 and around 85grains of it pushing the Powerbelt.

I have 225 gr .45 for my rossi 45 and have killed deer with the 348 gr in my White Mtn Carbine.  I don't think I would shoot any lighter that those in either caliber at deer.  The 348 gr with 90 gr of Pyro RS is very thin when it is found on the far hide of the deer.

I shoot 348gr AeroTips over 100gr Triple7 . So far only shots have been at paper (and one pumpkin )

I shoot the 245 grain hollow point powerbelt from my 50 cal. Traditions. This is a great bullet, loads easy, and still shoots with great accuracy. Traditions thunderbolt, with 4X32 simmons scope. Sure do like this. scout4<><

My son and i both shoot 295gr power belts 50cal hollow point with 90 grains of pyrodex..

I took 1 deer 2 years ago with my cva bobcat at 74 yards Neck shot..
It was like you cut a 4" wafer out of the neck and left the hide on one side..

I shoot 225 hollow points  in my CVA  mag.150(45cal.) pushed by 2 - 50 gr. pyrodex pellets  209 primers.
have use this ever since the powerbelts came out.my wife also uses the same setup.

between the two of us we have taken 11 deer , 3 gobblers and several hogs.

I'm not using them, but my cousin is using the 295 Aero Tips in his CVA bolt action (not sure of the model) with 2 50gr Pyrodex pellets and Remington Kleenbore 209's.  Shooting around 1.5"-2" at 100 yds.   If he takes any deer with it, I'll get info and post here.

I am not here to bash the Powerbelt, they are accurate in my Encore and easy to load. I have shot 8 deer with them, and they all died. However, I did not like what they recovered bullets looked like. They were squashed adn looked like a copper penny with a post in the middle. I know, I know, if you recovered them from dead deer what difference does it make!!!???  I'm just saying that these were small Pennsylvania deer, and soft-tissue wounds.  Just something to consider should you wish to take shoulder shots on big deer or larger game.  For what it is worth, I switched to Barnes all copper tipped muzzleloader bullets and have been extremely pleased.

They pancake when they are pushed to fast.  Even fragment when pushed really fast and the target is close.

Theres a guy on another forum just got back from elk hunting,  80gr blackhorn 209 and a 348gr powerbelt. Complete pass through.

Got some plans of my own with solving that pancaking issue.

I am partial to the 348 gr. in my Sidekick.  I used it for years and it is a proven performer.

I shot one medium sized cow elk with a 295copper aero-tip powerbelt over 90gr. of Black Mag'3. The shot was about 90 yards and a broadside running cow. The hit was rib cage both lungs and complete pass through so I have no idea what the bullet looked like. The exit hole was about an inch across.
