G22 and Doctor sight
« on: May 18, 2003, 07:29:03 PM »
:D   Hi guys.  Was at the range today and one of the gunners had a new otta box G22 with him,  When I first looked at it,it looked like a small toad sitting where the rear sight should be.  At anyrate,,,this toad...was one of the new Doctor holo type sights.  Now let me tell you.  That is one helluva combination.  Being that I have worked on glocks for a lotta years, and was used to seeing them with the...normal..sights on em,this really threw me back a few steps.  I dont generally get excited abut to much stuff that comes on the market, but this sight is a winner hands down.  Cost wholesale is 240 buchs, mount for the gun Gl;ock is another 35 buchs.  The company makes the mounts to fit all of the glocks at this point,or they may be short one or two but in the mags the have the mound for the G17,19,20,22,.  I was shooting a the steel plates,6 of em and i shot with my G19 that I have careied since day one.  I cleaned the plates in a little over two and a half seconts.  I be prety good shot at this game.   Then..I used the 22 with that scope type thingie.  I cleared all plates in just under 2 secons....first time using it.  I really like this sight.  Now I want to get the 10mm and put this tight on...it hsd to be a outsanding carry gun wih this setup .  just put the little red dot on where ya wann hi,and pull the trigger.  outstanding.   I cn see that ai am going to get one for sure.    stasy safe.....king

King,  Although I agree with the advantages of this sight (I had an Optima 2000 which is supposed to be pretty much the same), is going to be difficult to carry concealed as the little cover pops off every time it rubs against your body.  I tried to carry my Glock with this sight on it 'cause it was so accurate and fast but the cover kept falling off.  If it is like the Optima, the cover keeps the sight turned off.  Otherwise, it is always on and running the battery down.  Maybe the Doctor sight has a different method of switching off and on.  Great sight, but it has this one little problem.

Keoni,
I'm not sure how the sight turns off.  I guess it's just a sensor of some sort that switches the sight off and on based on ambient light?  Not sure, sorry.
