Finally got my 20 ga.
« on: February 09, 2010, 08:51:05 AM »

Sorry for the lack of pictures I'm not that skilled. I finally got my brand new 20 ga. with the 26" mod. barrel. It sounds like a bank vault when you shut it.

I might be able to shoot it later tonight. Right now it's raining poodles and persians.

Congratulations. I guess the doves, quail, bunnies and squirrels are no longer safe around your place!

I thought that's what this one would be, the primary. I'm gettin too old to let myself get pushed around for no good reason. I think the 20 ga. is big enough for anything that needs doin around here unless it comes on two legs.

Rusty,

Hopefully it will never come to that, but my 20 ga. Shorty stays in the corner by the bed just encase it is needed.  Yes, I have never like to be pushed around and have used the little 20 ga for along time. You will enjoy it and it will harvest critters for the kitchen! ;) IMHO best gun for rabbits and squirrel ever maded, except maybe the H&R M48 20 ga and I'm not sure about that, but I'M wanting one.

I too keep a 20 gauge Shorty as a "gravest extreme" gun and have every confidence in it.  But Froghunters right, hopefully it'll never come to that since they're a lot more fun as a woods and field companion.

Congrgulations on the new gun and enjoy it!

best regards,
Jeff

p.s.  If you figure out how to post pictures, let me know.  I'm not that skilled either.

For many years I swore by the 12 ga. I must admit, it will always have it's place .But now that I'm older ,I have found that except for a few applications , in the area I live ,the 20 will do everything that I  ever needed a shotgun to do.From squirrels to deer the modified choke 20 is all I realy  need.

Well by "pushed around" I didn't mean forced against my will. Sorry for not being clear. What I was meaning was I don't need to get battered by recoil unless I really need the extra power for something.

If I needed back up in bear country or for two legged varmints I'd stick wit a 12 bore. If I were hunting waterfowl, I might also welcome the extra power for that as well. I've been seeing a lot of puddle ducks lately and I think a 20 ga would do just fine for them.
