I was wondering if anybody got a deer or two this past hunting season.I say past,cuz it ended in Bama on the 31 st Jan.If you had more luck than me (which wouldn't have to be much) please post pics.I surewould like to see what one looks like in a prone position...........Rick....Post your pics,PLEASE!!!!!

Md'S  deer season ended Jan 31 as well.
I went out for an evening hunt, in the last 30 minutes I had 2 small  does come in to me. I picked the bigger of the two and watched it trough the scope. when it got in 20 yards it gave me a good shot so I took it.
I took a total of 6 deer in 2007-2008 shot but unable to recover 3 and flat out missed 2

don't get me wrong I don't just give a quick look and give up. I follow all the signs and when they run out I do a grid search and search for several days.

For some reason the deer on the farm I hunt don't leave a good blood trail even with a  perfect hit this is even with a 50 cal. M.L. 12 ga. 20 Ga. and arrows.

The last one I shot with the crossbow and couldn't find. I found a spot of frothy read blood about the size of my foot then about 10 more yards I found some drops and then nothing. this was around a stream with white sandy shore line and still couldn't find  a single drop.

Last year I shot a deer at 10 feet trough the heart with a 50 cal. M.L. and no blood not Even a spray at the point of impact. I watched the deer go down with in 30 yards and not a single drop of blood.

so what can you do when you have no more sings to follow?

Our season in Ohio ended this weekend. I took a small button buck two weeks ago with my xbow after missing a large doe that same evening at around 40 yds. I thought the button was a medium sized doe, but in the little light that there was I could not make out the nubs. Good eating anyway. I also missed a doe earlier in the bow season, arrow hit a twig! During both slug and ML I didn't see any large bucks except ones running too fast to shoot at. I passed up shots on small does and button bucks very early in the season too with the xbow.

Do you suppose that the deer that don't leave a blood trail were extra fat? I've heard that before.

I've missed the 2 does I've shot at from a 15' tree stand, I shoot over there backs. I got a new Nikon laser range finder now with the shooting angle feature, I hope this helps. My shots were at 40 yards , aimed low in the body and still shot high...........sigh.........

I don't think I would have used my 40 yd sight for that shot.  The 20 yd sight, aimed a little high, would have covered that deer and maybe a good kill.  JMHO of coarse.

2 cents from the cheap seats, you got string jumped, just like I did at 32 and 30, the tree stand had -0- to do w/ it.  Cut the range in half.
