Winds finished mine off on the 14th. 60mph with gusts slightly over 100 literally ripped tomatoes from the ground and sent them and their cages across the field. Had to ride over there on the 4wheeler with the trailer to retrieve the 51 cages. Nothing left so I'm waiting for some sign of rain so I can cover with lime and horse s...... manure. Still need to transplant a couple rows of strawberries, sew some winter radishes and get out some garlic for next year.
Canned about 70 qts. of tomato juice, 120 pints of chili sauce and picante sauce, couple bushel of corn, 14gal. of pitted cherries, 16gal. strawberries, 40+ jars of beans, 20 jars of peas, 12 gal. blueberries, and a lot more. Picked up 4 feed sacks of hulled hickory nuts so far. Well you get the idea. Been a lot of work but will sure be good this winter. Considering the poor conditions this year we've still shown a good yield. I've eaten enough watermelon and cantaloupe to hold me over till next year.
