504 Sporter

I'd sure like to have one.  Some folks love them and some seem to hate them.  They look fantastic.

They have been discontinued, but there are quite a few on Gunbroker & other auction sites.

As much as I'd like to have one, I may just go with a CZ452.

I tried one, and as much as I liked the rifle, it didn't shoot that well for me. The rifle has a round receiver, and the inletting is flat, and I think that was the reason mine didn't shoot. When the action was tightened into the flat bedding at the factory it didn't seat evenly, and formed a groove in the stock. Hopefully if you find one it will be a shooter! My CZ, Remington 511, and  Marlin 39's shoot better.

I saw one at Gander Mountain yesterday for $429, I think. They are a nice looking rifle. I wonder if you could epoxy bed the action and help out it's accuracy. I can not remember for sure, but I think they were supposed to have a special target barrel and the barrel were fastened into the action similar to a Ruger 10/22. I wonder if you tweaked this barrel mounting system if you could improve accuracy. Just thinking out loud. It is just a shame that such a nice looking rifle would not shoot well.

Some of the guys on Rimfire Central, say that their 504s shoot great.

There was a bad batch of bbls that made it onto 504's, that's why there's a love/hate relationship with 504's.

Rem. did correct the problem, but many of the guns with bad bbls are still floating around out there...  Even the so called bad bbls shot pretty good, just not as good as they should have...
