I know there is a big thing for the pre 64 model 94's, but if you find them made from about 1971 till they sold out, you'll get a good one and not have any funny safeties on them either. From what I've read, they made them with some cheaper parts from 64 to about 1970 (like pins and lifters) and then it seems they put the good parts back in them about 71...maybe because of customer complaints, don't know. Two of my friends have 94's made in 1971 and 74, and they are every bit as good as my 1963 model I have now. A friend of mine just picked up the 1971 model for $245 bucks. Search the news papers, bargin corners, and take your time looking, get some information on the serial numbers and what year they were made and take that with you when you look at them, you can know what year they were made, or even if they were made Winchester before they were sold out. Gun shows seem to ask too much for them, unless you can talk them down. There are still a whole bunch of them out there, I am seeing them for sale a lot in the local news papers here.
