I just picked up an early hi standard model H-B.  My books on assembly did not go back this far, but I was able to get it torn down most of the way and cleaned up.  I could not get the drift pin out of the hammer assy.  So hammer and sear are still in there with 60-65 years of grunge around them.  Used some gun-scrubber, but still feel the grit.  Any ideas?  Hammer and punch didn't work.  No other device found to keep the pin in place.. Didn't want to heat up an old gun.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is the hammer pin worn so that a notch has been formed.  If there is any slop in the hammer/hammerpin fit that may be the problem.  I've never heard of it being done but has the hammer pin been 'peened' in place?  I've not taken one of these apart for close to 30 years.  The CRS has totally erased any knowledge.  I'll dig thu the takedown books and see what I can find..  I'll be back tomorrow..

I bought this gun and was going to put a longer barrel on it.  Shot at a large silhouette chicken target at 50 meters and hit it 4 out of 5 times off hand 2x.  this gun is much tighter and crisper than my new Ruger semi auto.  Dont think the pin would be worn.  I hit that pin hard enough to start to peen over my drift pin punch.  It moved, but would not come out either direction.
