My .58 hunting load is 60 FFFg or 70 FFG. I can go hotter but never felt the need for deer. I use a Shiloh mold to cast a 525gr. minie and a Lyman 57730 575gr round nose minie, a real bruiser! Both are hollowbase. Accuracy at 100yds has been 2" or a tad more. I read here about a guy using the Lyman 20ga. wasp waist slug mold as his acuracy and game bullet. A friend has the mold and I got a handful from him. They are lighter than the minies and fit my bore loosely, probably .003-.004 under. They shot well but I didn't try them on deer - yet. The 525gr minie has performed perfectly for a long time. My accuracy load is 43 gr. FFFg with the minie, literally a small ragged hole at 50 yds and mild to shoot. I size my minies to a slip fit, .578 IIRC. That's pretty handy with the Huntsman as the ramrod is a weak point. I use a short starter and, at the range, a 1 piece range rod but don't want to fool with that when hunting. I haven't used a patched round ball but it should be effective if you can keep the Huntsman's ramrod in good shape.
