A Few Things I have Made Also POST 1 OF 2
« on: May 02, 2008, 05:58:39 PM »
Here are a few things I have made, although not quite as nice as CARLS.
I was going more for the rustic cabin look.
All the wood was cut by me on my farm.
1- Hall-Tree -  Walnut & Cherry with Deer Feet from a doe I shot.

2- Pocket Watch Case - Walnut & Cherry with drawer pulls made of Deer Horn from some of the smaller bucks I have shot.

3- Table for Case to sit on - Walnut & Cheery with a piece of Slate from an old 1800s estate fireplace.

4- Beaver Case with hidden drawers out of Pine - which holds 9 rifles each behind the fake small doors & fake drawers. The whole thing folds down to reveal the slide out drawers.

5- A small lamp out of Pine

6- A Deer Display out of Walnut

All the animals in these two posts were taken by me on our farm over the last severial years.
I did not do the taxadermy but I did do all of the arangement and the displays.

Longtom, I think they are better than mine. I think you do great work. I have only been doing woodworking for four years now. I have built sheds, barns and decks before, but now I have the time to work on things that I like to do. I enjoy looking at others woodworking, so keep posting. Carl L.

i really like all the woodworkings ihave seen in this whole thread. I really want to get me a lathe and play around a bit. I also have always liked working with wood but have never had the place or time to do finer work than carpentry. I think im gonna try to save up and get me a lathe and band saw. Maybe youll see some of mywork on here soon.

Give it a try.
You'll never know if you don't.
I always was in awl at anyone who could ever make a set of grips.
A member urged me to give it a try so I did and they arn't to bad for a first attempt.
These were made from red cedar.

i have made a few sets of grips with a dremel tool and sanding stick. The revolver grips are for a heritage arms 22/22mag convertible, they aremade out of spaulted sycamore. The two sets of 1911 grips are made from lace wood and zebra wood. The 22 auto grips are made from a piece of spruce wood trim that came out of a friends boat.
