Which one?
« on: February 05, 2009, 03:46:44 AM »
I'm having a hard time trying to decide between a Kimber Eclipse pro II and a Dan Wesson bobtail. I've shot both, and was equally impressed with them. They're virtually identical in terms of accuracy, recoil, and comfort in my hand.

The bobtail functioned a bit more smoothly than the Kimber, which felt like it could stand for a bit of break in. As for features, I like the bushing-less bull barrel on the Kimber.. though it really didn't make for any appreciable difference in muzzle flip. The bobtail has a nicer trigger, but again the difference is tiny. Both are stainless, slide and frame, and weigh the same. They are pretty much the same price, with a slight advantage to the bobtail.

Whichever I go with will be a carry gun. Can any of you more experienced folks think of any good reason to choose one over the other, or should I just flip a damn coin?

And don't tell me to buy both! If I could afford to do that I'd be looking at Ed Brown's Kobra carry  ;D

I have a Pro Carry. Excellent pistol. If I were in the market for another commander size 1911 I'd buy another. For that matter, I'd be happy with the DW as well, based on my limited exposure to them. I haven't gotten my hands on one since CZ bought them out, but bet the quality is at least as good as before the buyout.
