"Street" pricing a .30-06 NIB Model 77.

I am looking to play out all my options on bolt actions.  Somehow, in all the Remingtons this, Savage that, new model Winchesters there, I forgot about the trusty Sturm Ruger company.  So I am on the Ruger website, and as usual MSRP is listed.  It has been a while since I dealt with MSRPs, but when I did it always turned out that the "street" price was always lower than MSRP.  Is that still holding true? If so, what would a standard, wood stocked, Model 77 Hawkeye in .30-06 generally run?

A NIB 30-06 Hawkeye should be around $525 to $600 depending on where you are located.  Able ammo lists new 30-06 Hawkeye for $582.88 and I've been able most of the time to find NIB rifles for about $75-$100 less at some dealers, even in Alaska.

I see BuyNow! prices on GunBroker.com at about $569 but I expect you could get the minimum bid price by bidding at the last minute, about $550.  Of course you have to add shipping of $25-30 and your local FFL transfer fee, mine is $10 but most charge more.  Now you are back at $600 for a new Hawkeye off GunBroker...give or take a few bucks.

Don't forget about the Weatherby Vanguards. They are on sale for $399 in most popular calibers - my experience with them has been very positive. If you want a wood stock add about $100. Rugers are a great buy as a used rifle - as they don't maintain the higher resale value because of the old issue of accuracy. I have had good luck with used Rugers once I found the "right" powder / bullet combination. Remington and Savage rifles seem to shoot pretty darn good right out of the box. WInchester owners / retailers think their rifles are made of gold and are typically asking way too much unless they are a short mag calibers - which are rapidly becoming hard to give away.

My formula on street pricing is whatever the msrp is, a general idea would be to expect to pay about 80% of that.  In some case 75%.
