snow today
« on: September 27, 2008, 05:52:45 PM »
It snowed today but it was gone by late afternoon. Long enough for me to do some rabbit tracking. My lab and I like chasin rabbits in the snow. Only one willing participant to take home with me.

Just moved to Wasilla a couple of days ago, snowed yesterday... well, a few pieces of snow fell with the rain and made a little slush on the deck... that was it really.  Soon though... coming soon..

Had a couple of inches in Fairbanks Thursday night/Friday AM.  And from the throbbing in my elbow....it feels like it's gonna snow again any minute!  Got my own personal built-in barometer.  :(

Good for you on the move, I hope.  I've got to go to Anchorage probably on Tues for business.  I'll be there for a couple of weeks, though I'll have my laptop to access GBO.  If you'd like to meet, let me know by IM.  For the first time this fall, I see some termination dust on the mountains across the bay at about the 1800' level.  This will start driving the deer downward and cool enough for aging.  Wish I didn't have to go right now, but the deer will be there when I get back.
Greg lost his battle with cancer last week on April 2nd 2009. RIP Greg. We miss you.

Lots of snow now, and still coming!  When I left wasilla on tuesday, we had about four inches on the ground, and still coming.  We went up to crescent lake to do some camping, and ended up hiking through about 8" snow, not too bad.  Fish were nowhere to be found, but still a good hike.  Back down in Seward for a while, still snowing down here, helping the family to get the boat covered and the summer sheds (the tarp and metal rod type) put away.  If I am going to have some time in Anch, I'll let you know.

And the rain came down and washed the spider out.....

Small stream flood warning in Seward, rained hard all yesterday afternoon and night, power outage at about 1am.  Most of the snow gone this morning.

hahahahahhahaha, yeah, right, the coldest summer that we have had in years.

Did you know though, there is actually a group called Alaskans for Global Warming?  It's a joke really, but a funny one.  I think the only thing that makes them a group is they have tshirts.  That is the one fun thing about living in Seward though, you hear some greenies going off about globalwarming, especially when I worked at the sealife center, and I would always look at them and say, you know what, we live inbetween two of the biggest ice sheets in northamerica.  I don't want the warming trend to stop, cause if it cools, you can say byby to my small town.
