H&R replaced my 243 barrel
« on: October 17, 2008, 02:15:38 PM »
after having terrible groups with my 243 ultra with every load imaginable i sent it back H&R said the barrel looked awful, the rifling was rough so they replaced it. the new one is much better taking the two - four inch groups from the old barrel down to one inch groups with just about every thing i've tried so far it really likes the 87gr honaday HP & BT and it gives me 3/4'' groups with them. i wasnt very happy with the first barrel but this one seems fine. But who would let a crappy barrel go out the door do they have a finial inspection and test fire to see if the gun matches the standards or do they just dont have any standards     overall im glad they fixed it and made it good and a can say after six months i am a satified customer

Glad to hear they did right by you.
It took a while but it sounds like you got a good shooter now. ;D

if remington were not going to try to do a good job with our handies they would not have moved them to the new plant and damage their rep ;)

I'm thinking the test fire is just to make sure the breech doesn't explode the first time you fire it.  Accuracy is probably not what their checking.
If he's carrying a singleshot, don't expect a warning shot!
