.22 Hornet on Gunbroker
« on: October 20, 2008, 04:51:10 AM »
There is a model 157 in .22 Hornet with the mannlicher stock on Gunbroker   Auction # 113250035 which started at 99 cents. After 23 bids it is now up to $385.50 and still a day and a half to go! It is in very nice shape, near new looking and it does have a Redfield 6-24 scope which is not in quite as nice condition as the gun.  That strikes me as a lot of money for a 157 but I guess I may be totally out of touch. I know the scope is worth some money but it seems like way too much scope for the capabilities of a Hornet.
The story of David & Goliath only demonstrates the superiority of ballistic projectiles over hand weapons, poor old Goliath never had a chance.

I think that i would let that one pass. On the otherhand if I really wanted a hornet handi, I may scoop it up if it didn't go up much. I have a handi in Hornet that shoots very well with both factory hornady loads and my loads of 12.2 grns of lil gun under a 33 gr tnt. 5 shots will fit under a nickle.

I got a 157 that I paid $150 for and originaly bought it for the stocks but after a good cleaning found it very accurate and left it as is. That price even with scope is gettin very high. Kurt
