Went out to shoot my new barrel today in a 35 whelen, but ran into a problem. Hoping someone has the solution. I was using Double Tap ammunition in a 200g bullet with a prohunter rifle. I placed the first cartridge in the barrel and proceded to close it. It ALMOST would close. I figured maybe it's just a little tight given the new barrel, so tried to lightly "snap" the barrel closed a couple of times. Then the bullet extracter won't eject the bullet and the barrel still won't seat. I used a screwdriver to pry the case out (gunpowder falls out), but the bullet stayed in the barrel. So I tap the bullet out with a cleaning rod (there goes $2). I repeated the process with another cartridge (yes, bullet pulled out of the case again...$2) and then gave up. SO...my question is...is the problem most likely with the bullet and I need to try another manufacturer...or is it more likely with the barrel and I need to send it back to the custom barrel maker???
