Took the pro hunter out the other day with a new Omega scope new 1 piece base and rings and shot it and to my supprise I was shooting a good 5 feet low maby lower adjusted scope as far as it would go and was still 3 or 4 foot low still has anyone had this problem ? To correct it I used 5 aluminum shims at .003 each to get me on the back stop is this normal ? I don't like the thought of the shims tweaking my scope cant be doing it any good. any thoughts on this matter?

I solved those problems by using Burris Signature rings with the inserts. The new ones come with an extra set of off-set inserts just in case you need them.

You could easily get .010" off-set, or more, with NO CHANCE of binding your scope tube. You never get ring marks on the tube either.

Slowly but surely all my rifles get switched over as I change/upgrade the optics. And yes - I have them on my 209x50 ProHunter with the Omega scope.

I had the same problem with my 209-50.  At was using weaver base, leupold quick detach rings and nikon scope.  Scope ran out of adjustment before I could even get the point of impact on the paper.  Bought new weaver quick detach rings and remounted and shoots great. Good luck.
