Encore breech plug ?'s
« on: October 21, 2008, 03:40:01 PM »
I've noticed there are a few different styles of breech plugs for the encore and I'm wondering if one is really more efficient than the others or possibly easier to keep clean? Why did T/C change the design?

Also how much does the .25 acp conversion help with blowback on the encore?  Thanks.

Certainly not an expert on TC breech plugs - but the different designs were the result of looking for a cure of the T7 "crud ring."  I have a concave BP and do not have a problem with the crud ring - but others do so I can not tell you much more than that...

"0" if the 25 acp fits the conversion well.... you will know when you close the breech block - if it takes more pressure to close than normal you are squeezing the shell tighly into the coverted BP.  If you purchase one from PR - it is really simple to make your own once you get the measurements off the PR plug.  I had my local machine shop rebuild 3 TC breech plugs to accept the 25acp using the PR as a template - he charged me $11.50 - total...
Keep shooting muzzleloaders - they are a blast....

Thanks sabotloader. I'm going to try a few different primers and see what happens. If no improvement, I think I'm going to try the .25 conversion.
