Well i tried blackhorn 209 today in my encore ,wow great powder shoots very good in my encore ,think i am going to like this powder.

I would like to try it.  It doesn't work well in the NEF Sidekick or the Remington 700ML according to some.  It sure is expensive.

I have shot it in my Remington and it worked very well... Shot various loads up to 120 grains with 300 grain bullets... But I am using the Cabelas conversion - not sure the Remington conversion will work becasue of their design.

I saw your post on that.  I am still trying to decide if I want to spend the money on the Cabela's conversion.

According to BH209 instructions, 100gr V load is max with a 300gr bullet. That is, unless I missed something. How was the performance with that load?

You are reading that wrong, this is exactly what it says.

 - Bullets over 350 grains are not recommended.

So basically up to and including 300 grain bullets have a 120 gr volume maximum, anything over 300 grains up to 350 grains have the 100 gr volume maximum.

They have posted 120 grain volume velocities for all the bullets up to and including 300 grains. Notice the 320 gr White Powerstar at the bottom of the 26" barrel chart has a NR* (Not Recommended) in the 120 grain volume column.

Thanks for the correction - I read (misread) it originally and thought that 100gr V was the max charge for the 300's.

I have noticed on this site that some shooters are using charges up to 150gr V but I did not see any reference to charges that heavy from the manufacturer.

120 Buck horn and 250 Shockwaves gave me  1/2" in my Encore, 6" in my Omega Z5.....................
