Need Hornady load info

Particularly for a 223. Bullet is a 55 grain V-Max. Powder is H335. Can anyone look in a Hornady manual and tell me what the min/max charge is? Thanks!

55 gr. V-Max  -  C.O.L. 2.250"
H 335

20.8 gr. @ 2800 fps starting load
23.2 gr. @ 3100 fps MAXIMUM load

tested in Remington 700 - 26" barrel with 1:12 twist

Thanks alot Bill. The only data I have for that powder is a 55 grain Winchester FMJ. It shows a max of 25.1 grains. That load with a V-max would definately wreck my AR. I appreciate your quick response. ;)

Keep in mind the difference in twist rates between the 1-12 in the Hornady manual and the 1-9 or faster rate of the AR barrel.  You may find like others have that the V-max comes apart due to the rotation rate much like the Hornady SPSX.

I was going to work the load up, but it sounds like the slower loads may be the ticket in my AR because of the 1-9" twist. The drop will be worse with the slower loads, but it beats the bullet flying apart. Thanks for the heads up Old Syko. My reason for owning the AR foremost is burning lots of rounds at the range on occasion and the ever popular TEOTWAWKI. I have a few thousand Guat and military equivilent handloads for that. Recently I started wanting to hunt some coyotes on my great uncles place with it and Tennessee doesn't allow FMJ's to be used to hunt with. These fragile varmint bullets are going to take some getting used to.

Jim you might want to give these guys a call.http://www.g2gtactical.com/aboutus.sc  I was in there yesterday picking up 1 more lower before the changes next month, and Tim was telling me he was now offering some frangible ammo at a reasonable price, somewhere around $300 per 1000.  I don't know exactly what ammo he has to sell or if it is even legal to hunt with where you are, but the frangible I have immediately turns groundhogs, skunks and other critters to a bright pink mist without so much worry of ricochet and is designed for use in an AR15/M16.

Be interesting to see how the V-max works for you.  Some love them out of their AR and others, not so much.  Just got some Varmint Nightmare from Midsouth that I want to try since the latest AR is going to have a custom 24" stainless 5 flute barrel and be set up to reach as far as possible.

BTW Tim and Corky are both great to deal with.
