Here is some great Anti-Virus software for free. I have had many of the leading brands of virus software and still got virus's. I have been running this for a long time and still have not received a virus since I have been using it. Here it is free. Dale

AVG is rated very highly and the new version is all-in-one.  I'm using it (the free version) on all of our computers.

Man... leave it to a republican to infect his computer w/ spyware and malware ;D
I'm voting 3rd party in this election by writing in Jesus Christ for president.  Sadly even if this were an option most of you would still vote Republican because "It's a two party system."

LOL Dale they are just giving you a hard time or not paying attention one.  When you click on you link the very top link is to www.pctools.com which is the site Matt recommended.  Yes you can get AVG from there. Might be smarter to go to pc directly to avoid any dangers, since the site you linked isn't verifiable.

Thanks Heather. I know AVG works very well. I have had Mcafee and Norton and still got virus's from time to time. I have had AVG for a long time now and have not picked up any bad bugs since I have had it. I think anyone who is not protected should download AVG 8.0 for free. Dale

I've been using AVG Free for several years on my wife's PC and I load it on all of the PCs that I repair/build for friends, it's a great AV. I would also recommend Adaware 2008 and Spybot S&D 1.6, they're free also and work well with AVG for more comprehensive defense against malware if you update and run scans reqularly, once a week or so.

Personally, I use Avira Anti-Vir Premium on my PC, since I retired I spend way more time on the internet than most people do and like the real-time protection it provides, I've had warnings from Anti-Vir just going to a site, the PC will beep and a warning pop-up happens with info on the threat. It alerts when the threat first invades instead of finding it after the fact in a scan. It costs $40 for the first year, 2yr renewalls are $45. They offer a free version too, but I've not used it.

Two big thumbs up for AVG.  It might not be the best, but it has worked fine for me.

Some more good free utilities:
http://www.ccleaner.com/
to clean up temp files and unwanted junk with one click

and

http://www.zonealarm.com/store/content/home.jsp

for free and fairly effective software firewall, go to "products and services" and "basic firewall".  it slows my download speed a little bit, but I trust it more than the Microsoft one.
