may have bought the wrong base

 When I bought my OE I bought the bases at bass pro. I made clear to the guy I wanted the durabright base and he showed me they had them in the bass pro brand so they went home with me. The base mounted fine on my 50 cal barrel. Now getting close to deer season I was going to mount the other base on my 270 barrel. The holes line up but the barrel is drilled with 4 holes and this base has 6 holes. When you mount the base the first two holes on the base toward the muzzle are not mounted to anything. Do I have the wrong base?

The Durasight base has six holes, mounts using the rear 4.

 ok just checking I went ahead and mounted the base and once it was on I figured that was the way it went. I am off to the range to site in the 270 thanks for info.
