i have a mid 70s 336c in 30-30. The lever will not stay closed. Is this a common problem or something that only my gun is doing. If this is a common problem is there a easy fix.

check the plunger on the lever see if it is stuck or sticky, may need a new spring. if you take it out to clean or inspect, the pin drives out to the left, cover with a rag or your hand so the spring doesn't get away, Hope this makes sense

the plunger does not seem to be sticking. i have had it out and it was cleaned and oiled but only seemed to help for
a short time. i will try this again to see if it will help. i thought maybe this was a common problem. thanks anyway

Another thing to try is bending the spring that puts tension on the trigger lock plunger. Just a little then try it then maybe just a little more. If it is stronger than the plunger spring it will push the lever back off the lock point.
