another Makarov question
« on: October 05, 2008, 04:03:28 PM »
does this handgun have a known weak point such as the firing pin on the CZ52.
reason I ask is that I now have an Imez produced IJ70-18A new in the box.
I want to put this one away for later use and I need to know what spare parts
I should include

There are virtually no known issues I am aware of on the Mak.  I have 3 or 4 Maks and to this day have never once experienced an issue.  I do have a few replacement springs in back up and nothing else.  The commercial Mak was not rumored to have an issue that was happening on the Bulgarian Maks....cant recall off hand what it was.

I ran about 3000+ rounds through my maks when I "was into them" and shot more often.  Haven't fired in years but I can't think of one problem.

Enjoy

S.S.:  The IJ70 is one of the best variants of the Makarov.  The only thing I might get, if I owned one, would be a 380 barrel for a changeover when the dumbocraps tell us they won't allow the import of any more foreign (Russian/Soviet/Commie/Chinese) ammo into the US.

There aren't any issues with the Maks that I have heard of.  The only spare parts I would accumulate would be a bunch of extra magazines.   JMTCW.  Mikey.
