cz ringneck, and my curse of the the single trigger.
« on: December 01, 2008, 06:27:39 PM »
  Hello to everyone,

Christmas came a little early this year for me, this weekend I purchased a CZ Ringneck sxs in 12 gauge. I have always been leery of the doubles (both sxs and o/u )with a single trigger. and unfortunately yet again I confirmed my fears, the left barrel would fire, but not the right. regardless of what the selector was set to, or the safety, all attempts to make it work, short of warranty voids-no dice.

I have heard good things about CZ and these shotguns in particular. I called CZ USA today and was dealt with promptly and courteously, to send it to Kansas city and have it worked on, but, will it be durable? is this a recurring problem?

does anyone have experience with this type problem, or the ringneck models. I would like to know I got a good, solid gun, but now I'm worried.

   Thanks in advance, Rvtrav

I had a problem with a CZ Bobwhite in a 28 gauge that wouldn't shoot point of aim. The Customer Service Department in K.C. was great and offered me an "upgrade" to a Ringneck, which I took. I have really been impressed with its function and fit; it has become my favorite "dove" gun. I hope they fix yours as well, for the design is "sound".  I think it is one of the better "bargains" available in a rather limited field of "affordable" side-by-sides.

Thanks for the confidence boost Jeager,

I needed to read that, I was worried I'd dumped some dough into a "take a spare gun with you" shotgun.

I did see a 28 gauge at sportsman's while shopping, (after the 12 gauge purchase) that is one sweet looking little gun. I kinda wished I'd saw that one first.

Around here (Utah) other than a few short days of dove season, and an occasional cottontail safari, the 28 would not get as much use as a 12, as steel shot for ducks is next to impossible to find for the 28, and the Wiley chuckar partridge at some longer ranges are the main quarry.

If the 12 works out and I feel confident with it's dependability, that 28 sure looks like a great gun to have though.

How prompt of a return was K.C. with their warranty work?

The "rest of the story" was I really just "lucked into" the Ringneck because they couldn't provide a replacement Bobwhite for my other one of the same configuration for several months. They said the small gauges in that model were much harder to get than the larger gauges. When I asked about an upgrade, the Service Manager said he had 4 in the warehouse in that gauge and would "hand pick" the wood for me at no extra charge (the up grade was extra). The wood turned out to be gorgeous, complimenting the excellent metal work.  I really prefer the 28" barrels on the small frame because the gun handles and "tracks" so much better than the shorter 26".  I received the gun within a week; you have the rest of the story.
