BLR in 45/70
« on: October 14, 2008, 10:21:16 AM »
Is it not possible to manufacture a positive feed magazine for the 45/70? I just love my BLR in 358 and think it would be a great rifle for the 45/70 Or is it impossible to come up with a magazine for a rim cartridge. I thought there were bolt actions in the past for the 45/70 and 30/30 so i was just wondering

Think your best bet is to do 450 Marlin.
Same balistics as 45-70 but smaller rim and the BLR was done in the belted mags so bolts and mags are available somewhere.

I think that Browning could easily do a rimmed cartridge, but it's not so easy to enlarge the entire rifle (BLR) to accept/feed the .45-70's very large RIM.

.450 Marlin - +1

If you go the 450 Marlin route I suggest you take up re-loading for it. The factory stuff only comes in "Wild" ;)
