What finish is this

Can anyone tell me what the finish is on my SRH with the target grey finish. Is this a propriatary ruger finish or is it the same as the many gunkote type baked on finishes.

It is a proprietary finish developed by the late long-time Ruger Manager Stan Terhune. I believe it is done in a tumbling process, but may be mistaken. Mr. Ruger originally called the finish " Anti - Corro Terhune".

Thank you for that, I was hoping it was a  just a different color for the duracote stuff that's out there. I would like to cote a rifle of mine to look just like it. But maybe that is not going to happen.

There is probably a Duracoat finish -or something from their competitors- that comes close to matching the Ruger color, but I don't know. That type of finish is not something I have interest in, so I've never really explored what all is available.
As an aside, the Ruger finish can be bead blasted off rather easily, revealing their standard stainless steel.

That's something I didn't know. The finish under the target gray is stainless steel. Thanks that's good to know.
