Burris Signature Rings

Looking to scope My new 700 CDL, 35 Whelen. Thinking about the Burris Signature rings and double dovetail bases. I have never had any of these. How are these as opposed to the Talley aluminum, and should I run medium or high rings? Usually, I use Conetrol, but can use the extra money in other places.

Ring height is a function of the objective bell on your scope.  As a rule you want your scope as low as possible w.o touching the barrell.

If you use the double dove tail mounts you will not have any windage adjustment on the scope mount, the signature burris rings will fix that problem for you if you buy their set of offset inserts and take some time to set it up.  The Dovetail rings seem to be a little higher than rings mouted on Weaver type rails, but it all depends on the scope and what part needs to clear what part.  Larry

Leupold, Burris, and Talley have mount fit guides on their web sites. Talley low rings are about the same as medium ring/base combos from other companies. I have the Talley lightweight rings on my Rem 7600 and like them. I have Leupold dual dovetail rings and two piece bases on my M70 and like them also.
