Anyone got a preference for short stroke kits, or are they all pretty much equal?

Okay, bring me up to speed.  What is a short stroke kit?  Is it somehow going to shorten the stroke on a lever gun, or is it to overcome short stroking the action?

Shortens the stroke on a lever action rifle, specifically the 60/66/73 type as made by Uberti.
