6.5X55 is 2 for 2
« on: October 11, 2008, 01:08:41 PM »
A trifecta is in the works for my 6.5X55 Swede, Rem. 700 Classic (Weaver K3).  A couple weeks ago I took an antelope doe.

Yesterday I got a real nice Mule Deer buck.

2008 Buck & “Classic” Swede

Next Wednesday elk season starts.  Trifecta for the Swede?...maybe so! ;D

nice, those 6.5 bullets really do a good job.
My nephew and niece use a 260rem, hammers everything
they've ever pointed it at including a real nice 6x6 bull.

Great job!! The Swede rocks!!

It snowed friday in Rock Springs, according to my daughter there. It's a bit early, but hope that helps your elk quest!

Congratulations on a fine Mule Deer  :).

Oh out of ALL the modern Remingtons I do think the Classic looks the best. Never handled one so cannot comment on the feel  :-\.

Those are two fine harvests, you should be proud of your abilities and the rifle you are using.

I have often thought of another Remington, but it would have to be one of their 'Classics' and would have to be in either the 6.5 Swede or the 8mm Mauser.  However, if I could ever find either it would probably mean relegating all my mil-surps and sporterized mil-surps to the back gun cabinet so I could play with those two.  Mikey.

My 6.5x55 is a mod 70 featherweight. So what bullet are you using? I'm liking two; the 129gr Hornady spire point and the 140gr Speer. Leaning heavily toward the Hornady for everything.

BTW, like your choice of scope too. Mine has a 1-4x Redfield that I bought new in 1972.

My ammo is a reload of 140 gr. Hornady Spire Point and Reloder 19.

Still looking for that elk but haven't gotten the shot opportunity...yet.  ;D

Congrats on the two animals!  Got my antelope a few weeks back but am going for deer and elk in 10 days.  Your pictures just whet the appetite!

Well, the season ended just two for two with the Swede.  No elk for me this year.  If you are interested in the story and several pictures of my elk hunting days in the Snowy Range Mountains west of Laramie, WY you can find it all posted over on Marlin Owners forums.

Maybe next year... ;)!

Thanks for the pics. Hey....it's not the Swede's fault that you can only hunt out and hit the smaller deer type targets! Maybe you need a new Elk call?....Yeah....just bustin your chops.....but again, thanks for the pics! Nice country!!!
