MK II rifleing

I have a M77 mk II stainless syn.The rifleing in this 7mm.RM seems real quick,1 in 8.the barrel is marked ruger and is very light in contour , only 1/2 in. at the muzzle.The rifle is about 10 years old.Do any of you guys know if these barrels were produced in house by Ruger, or contracted out to a different barrel maker.

I am pretty dead-nuts positive that all Mark II rifles were barreled in house, in fact I am certain only the very earliest tang safety M77's were the only ones that wore farmed out barrels.  BTW, I also think Ruger rifles in 7mm Magnum all sported a 1/9.5" twist rate unless your gun has been rebarreled with an after market tube.

The very early (dog leg flat bolt) tang safety M77's had Douglas barrels, as production increased Wilson barrels were used until the transition to Ruger hammer forged barrels took place. Some very late M77's have the hammer forged barrels, and I am pretty sure that all MKII's do. Yes, the 7mm barrels have a fast twist as do the 6.5 barrels. I can't remember for sure, but I think that the Wilson barrels had six grooves, and the Ruger barrels have 4........ I could be wrong about that.
