Well what ever I got has been hanging in there with me.... I thought the shot I got several weeks ago was gonna keep me from this 

Oh well, we still don't have snow on the ground around the Flathead Valley, but its in them Rockies and this is a good sign.  That buck I'm looking for may just be hanging around down in Condon area along the Swan Highway.  My son in law is going to take me there next week as the property is owned by his grandpa's family.  It will be a real nice treat hunting down there as I also hold an elk tag which is good for that area as well.

Now I am hoping to get back to one of our local farms here where I have permission to hunt.  I have 2 doe tags right now, and can get another 3 if I want for this area.  When I was there the other day, I just could not get close enough to hunt with my S&W 629 6" .44 Mag, so the long range open land rifle is coming out.  I should have no problem with the Savage 99 in .308 Win.

Good morning every one. Montanan sorry to hear the misery's are still hanging on. 

That Savage 99 is an incredible gun. I am not a big fan of multi shooter Lever guns.   But I would be proud to own a 99.  When I had the shop open, I drilled and tapped a lot of them for scope mounting followed by sighting in.  I never saw one that wasn't accurate. The do not shoot like "cowboy" Levers.  Probably the only reason I don't have one is the lever just doesn't fit my ham hock hand.   

We got the MinL shipped off yesterday.  You think that would free me up to hunt.  Nope, I have to wait for a call from the Rental Agent so I can over and install a smoke alarm in Minl's house.  When she bought the house it had a tenant who's lease doesn't expires until next spring. The previous owner did not have a smoke alarm in it.  I wonder what would happen if I sent my MinL a bill...nopw better not do that, she's been awful good to me over the years.  i'll help her.

So we'll go out tonight.

Douglas  If you got a good MnL then you got a good situation.  My FnL is a great guy who I gave a room here at my house because he has done so much for my family and I.  I decided that when hunting season is over I'm wanting to get my S&W 629 D&T'd for the scope mount that I have.  I most likely will use a red dot, and then maybe move up to a nice handgun scope later.  My eyes just need some sort of magnifications or a good red dot out there to work with as I'm having real trouble lining up those iron sights.  I have one of the older 629 classics that does not have a replacable front sight, but is highlighted with orange.

Today the Doctor told me after I did what I did in the office..... I looked funny as heck almost upside down getting the blood flow back in my head.  So right now I had taken some pain meds and no driving or hunting for today.

So it's hunting shows.

That's quite enough misery Sir.  You get better, hear.  I've been around the country some, but haven't seen any whitetails except doen soouth of Winnett.  Will have to do some more scouting around when I get up there.  Thanks for the tip about heading north towards the breaks.  Have seen lots of mule deer, elk and prairie goats, but no whitetail.  FWP doesn't have any more b-tags for mule deer in the 410 area for the boys to get.  We'll know betteer next year.  Get well soon Montanan.  DP
