10 mm Mag anyone?
« on: November 11, 2008, 04:59:26 PM »
After looking over the chamberings offered by Bulberry, I think I have found what I will ask Santa Claus for.  Fred is having a barrel sale and I think I want a 10 or 12 inch barrel in 10mm Mag.  I have load data and 10mm dies that will work.  Has anyone else owned a barrel so chambered?  if so, What were your impressions?

I think the 41 Magnum would be the better choice for a similar caliber.

I understand the 10mm Auto is .400 diameter and the 41 Magnum is .410 caliber, but the 41 has a rim and would be a better choice for the T/C.

But for better brass and bullet selection I would suggest the 44 Magnum over both.

I had one (10" barrel)for quite a while a few years ago.  It shot quite accurately, but, as Yooper77 said anything it would do, my 10" 41 Mag would do better and with a rim.  Both were very powerful if needed yet didn't have the sting(recoil) of the .44 or .45.  If I was having a custom job made, I'd op for the .41, but then that may not be in Fred's sale either.

Being a fan of the 10mm and 10mm Mag, I too have to agree that given the choice in a a single shot the 41 Mag is the way to go. Better heavy bullet selection and brass is a lot easier to find and less expensive.

I had a .414 for sometime..just like weird and different stuff.  I load for a buddy's .41 S&W revolver and know its potential, might see if Fred could do me another .414, still have around 100 pcs of brass laying around..I have barrels in .300 Whisper and 6.8 SPC that are. of course, rimless, and have no problem extracting the empties.
