H.R. 6257: Assault Weapons Ban Reauthorization Act of 2008
« on: November 08, 2008, 04:19:12 PM »
Assault Weapons Ban Reauthorization Act of 2008 - Amends the federal criminal code to reinstate, for 10 years, the Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act's assault weapons ban to prohibit the manufacture, transfer, or possession of a semiautomatic assault weapon or a large capacity ammunition feeding device. Specifies models and features of banned weapons.

Sets forth exceptions to such ban, including: (1) firearms or devices lawfully possessed under federal law on the date of enactment of this Act; (2) certain firearms, replicas, or duplicates listed in an appendix as they were manufactured on October 1, 1993; (3) any firearm that is manually operated by bolt, pump, lever, or slide action and that has been rendered permanently inoperable or that is an antique firearm; (4) any semiautomatic rifle that cannot accept a detachable magazine that holds more than five rounds of ammunition; (5) any semiautomatic shotgun that cannot hold more than five rounds in a fixed or detachable magazine; and (6) firearms manufactured for, transferred to, or possessed by a federal, state, or local government agency or for law enforcement.

Requires the serial number of any weapon or device manufactured after enactment of this Act to clearly show the date of manufacture.
Directs the Attorney General to study and report to Congress on the effects of this Act on violent and drug trafficking crime.

Note:  As our pal Gomer used to say:  Surprise, surprise, surprise!

We can't say this was unexpected.  We knew that once the liberals had a reign on power that they'd bring this monster back to life.

But golly, this one is sponsored by (drum roll, please...)  *THE REPUBLICANS*

Aren't you glad that McBush and her party are the defenders of the 2nd Amendment?

 :P
They may talk of a "New Order" in the  world, but what they have in mind is only a revival of the oldest and worst tyranny.   No liberty, no religion, no hope.   It is an unholy alliance of power and pelf to dominate and to enslave the human race.

The sponsors of this bill are not Republican, they are RINOS.  All one has to do is look at the States and districts they represent.  IL, North Chicago; NJ, West Newark; CN, Bridgeport & South New Haven; DE, at large; and FL's Miami Dade county.  Gee, Pelosi won't have much trouble getting these people to vote liberal.  They already are more liberal than most of the Dems.  These RINO's are from very liberal states and are just positioning themselves along the Obama trend for re election in 2010.  We firearms owners should remember them at the primaries.

This is old news and dead news.  The bill is in committee where it will die.  Anything not out of committee and brought to the floor, voted on and passed by the house, sent to the Senate, again run through committee, then voted on again, then placed on the desk of the President Bush is dead.  It cannot be passed to the new congress next year.  Doesn't mean it won't be reintroduced next congress but it has to start all over for the new congress.  There have been several bills just like this one during this congress so no real surprise at all.  They all died in committee.

It may be dead for 2008, but I sincerely believe it will be introduced very early in Congress next session.  You can bet it will pass then and Obama will eagerly sign it before it gets lost in the mail.

When the first ban was in effect the liberals said it was worthless because it wasn't tough enough. If this is all we get we will be very very lucky.

Guys this man is going nuts ,read the article in News Week , he is so consumed with power he is makeing enemy's out of even his old friends.
The Press says he is extremely vain and looks in the mirror at his teeth all the time ,he really thinks he is a God or something.
People pray to him ,not just for him .
Look at this Executive Order thing , he is going to use that big time ,in other words ,the God makes the laws as he wants and Congress can just catch up .
He has no use for Congress ,and he is getting rid of the 22nd Amendment and the Constitution.
That means he is king for life , No elections, like after the last one that's a surprise. He is meeting with our enemy's before he even meets with our Generals.
He is keeping them where they are at and our Army's  be cause he knows they will not tolerate this crap.
This meeting with the Russian President ,it isnt a frenziedly pow wow ,they want to see who this guy is and they worry that he has the finger to push the red button.
Some of our Representatives are saying they are getting swamped with phone calls and emails saying the people want him out ,or controlled some how .
People want to know what that stupid election was all about ,we sat here and watched it being rigged and stolen and where is the FBI ,and why is Washington catering to this guys every word ?
Rome : Remember this Pope is not at all like any other ,he was the one who had seen Hitler rise to power and he fought in the German Army. He also told the world that Islam was a gutter religion and was only about Hate.
He says that in watching this, Obama refuses to meet with anyone of the Christian faith.  And there are some very disturbing parallels in Obama and another Leader this Pope has seen in his life time .  Insiders say he is leaving on Vacation during Christmas so he doesn't  have to be around a celebration of Christianity.
And notice he wouldn't say a pledge of Allegiance ,and some are saying he will not recite the oath of office eiather.
In fact he has said that wasn't necessary the people have spoken.
The Rev, Wright said that he swore obama in for the Senate and we let that go.
America needs to be very careful here , Some other leaders are trying to tell us that if we do not watch out ,we will never get rid of this man.
He has used his race to get to where he is ,and his race has nothing to do with who he is and what he intends to do with this Country.
This is way messed up people.
In this time i Command ,That you take the Secular to Jerusalem .
There you rid the Holy City of the Scourge of Islam , Make the streets run red with the Blood of those who wish to wash Israel and Christianity from the face of the Earth.

Lucky??  Did you bother to go and read the text of the actual bill that is the subject of this thread?  It listed in attachment "A" of the bill every gun you would find in a annual gun publication.  That's single shots, slide action, pumps.....everything.  This bill was a nothing more than a stunt to establish a position by a anti gun congressman.  Hell even Chuckie Schumer didn't sign it.

It wouldn't matter if Charlton Heston were sitting in the white house these kind of bills will be introduced every year.  As already said, this particular bill is dead, never even brought up for consideration in committee so don't worry about it.  Just be alert for the one's that will come our way next year.  It's not who is sitting in the White House that is the main threat people, it's the congress themselves.  Just stay alert and keep in mind there are pro second amendment people that are Democrats as well as Republicans.  Know who they are and keep them in office.
