A tricked-out version of Remington’s awesome slug gun, the 12- or 20-gauge Super Slug features a new barrel with Ultragon rifling that delivers rifle-like accuracy at 100 yards and beyond. This is the real deal — the gun delivers 1- to 2-inch bench groups at 100 yards with regularity and is an able companion to Remington’s hot new Premier AccuTip Bonded Sabot (which, by the way, will be offered in a 20-gauge version next year as well). The 870 Super Slug has a ShurShot synthetic stock (camo or black) with rubber overmolded pump panels, and is available with a 25 ½-inch fluted and extra-heavy barrel (with scope mount) in the 12-gauge version or an 18 ½-inch cantilever barrel in the 20-gauge model (2 ¾- or 3-inch). If you shoot the 260-grain, .45-caliber AccuTip slug in 20 gauge, you probably will decide that it provides all the firepower needed for whitetails. The 12-gauge will sell for about $700, the 20 for about $500.

So does H&R have anything to do with those barrel's? Or are they made by Remington?

Since I live in a slug gun state... Man that claim of 1-2 inch repeated accuracy from a bench...sure is intriguing....

All ya got to do is find the right bullet and I ain't havin much luck right now with my Ultralite 20. Even the much reliable buckhammers are jumping around some. I hope it ain't the scope as I got a Elite 3200 on it. But the last session was no fun at all. Also watched a guy try and shoot those new green whistle slugs out of a 870 special purpose shot it 3 times slugs were 18" apart in three dif directions. First bad info I had seen about the new slugs... he said his gun is a proven good shooter and the only thing dif this yr was those slugs. Kurt

I saw a box of those whistle slugs when I bought my BuckHammers.  The BuckHammers were priced less than half of what they were wanting for them.  But they looked kind of awesome, a giant Ballistic Tip.  I do like the BT in .224 cal and smaller, just not sure about the giant ones.  And what is the purpose of those holes?

There was and article on them about 2 issues back in the American Hunter mag that explained the holes but I'll have to see if I can find it. Kurt

Bout all I could really find on the special tip is that it's designed to control the expansion (retains 95%) and down range accuracy  plus the jacket on the bullet is more on the line of rifle bullets than what most slugs have when jacketed. kurt
