Is this a fair price on a Optima Elite combo??
« on: November 06, 2008, 06:52:12 AM »
I've been lurking around the internet to find the best deal on a Optima Elite Camo/SS combo and the best i could find was $525+S/H. I called my friend with a FFL and he can get it for $500. That was good news but only combo his dealer had was 223(no rebate on that one). I told him to tell me when the 243 or 270 come available.
Is $500 really a good price or should I keep looking?

RR sells it for $521 plus shipping, they have two 270 combos in stock.

Ya, I saw those. After shipping and transfer fee it'd be close to $60 more then my guy. For now I'm holding out till he can get one for me. Do you know if R&R has better prices to FFL's?

Dunno, I'm not an FFL, you'd have to ask them. I bought an H&R 243 Ultra Varmint from them a year ago, they charged $17 shipping, my FFL charges $20 for the transfer. I bought an SS Ultra Hunter 45-70 in July from Bud's for $382 shipped, that's less than what most other dealers sell the rifle for, so it pays to look at for both reasonable shipping and an FFL that charges less.  ;)  Another one to look at is TGS, they're kinda slow to get it out the door, but their shipping charges are reasonable, they have the 243/50 combo in stock.
