The answer to a common problem...
« on: November 09, 2008, 09:14:54 PM »
OK people enough of you have voiced your opinion about an ignore feature and now you have one...

Go to your profile and look on the left side menu in the Modify Profile section you will find a new option [Ignore user options]

Just add the members you want to ignore and then forget they are members... ahhhh I can see it now.... a peaceful GBO again.... ahhhh

If the person doing the ignoring is the ignorer does that make the person being ignored ignorant?  ;D

Matt, the only thing that could make this better, is that their quotes when other posters use them, would disappear also. Thanks, an awsome addition.

Now I'll probably be the only one seeing the posts of some folks on here since I feel it necessary to be able to see all posts made no matter by whom.

no i ll be seeing them myself..to ignore implies total unacceptance,,
of  a person.. ive found that to be a flawed position in my experience..
for me diversity.. acceptance of those different than ones self is the very essence of what this country is all about.. also sounds very boring ,and possibly even carrying a dangerous seed  to me..
i can just think of some exstremes.. would jew hear what islam had to say and vice versa.. would socialist here what conservatives have to say ,an vice versa.. black versus white . rural verses city dwellers..
in other words toleration of differences is not encouraged.. having said that ,i do think it should be each persons right to choose ,,an it is on this forum..

Yep! That's the price of making those big buck GB. ;D I appreciate Matt putting such a feature in. There are some I simply do not want to read. In my area of life they have nothing to offer. I am sure some feel the same about me, but that's life.

What's the point of a forum discussion if you are going to pay attention to just bits and pieces of the discussion?  I too will be reading all the posts...
I'm voting 3rd party in this election by writing in Jesus Christ for president.  Sadly even if this were an option most of you would still vote Republican because "It's a two party system."

i  will  not  use  it   [probly]

i  would  hope  that  some  one pm  me and  explain  their gripe  with  me  first

i  know  i have a different point  of  view  than  most  and  am  misunderstood

but  if they  just  choose  to ignore  me  it is  good  they have that  option

i  have learned  more  here  form  the people  that  i disagree  with

will  we  know  if  we   are  ignored??    i  am  sure  i  will  know  soon enough

I'd like to use it, but as Bill stated, it's not really appropriate for moderators/admins, but as Matt said, it should help keep the peace. ;)

I like to debate too much to ignore too many people.  I like the fact that you can ignore someone but it shows you that they have posted anyway, so if you choose to you can view that post. Neat feature.  Great job Matt! :-*  Thank you.

I considered using the ignore feature, for a moment, but I am interested in reading all posts, even if I strongly disagree with that person, for it is still interesting.
