« on: November 11, 2008, 10:29:39 AM »
THINKING ABOUT HAVING A JP MUZZLE BRAKE PUT ON MY 45-70 BC, BUT WOULD LIKE TO HEAR ANY ADVANTAGES OR DISADVANTAGES FROM OTHERS WHO HAVE TRIED THIS COMBINATION BEFORE DROPPING ANY $$$$$$$, IF IT DOESNT HAVE ANY SIGNIFICANT EFFECTS?

One significant impact will be on yours or anyone's hearing near you, can't say that the BC will need it for any other reason unless you plan on shooting hot levergun or Ruger loads in it. If it's for recoil reduction, a little weight or an MRR in the stock bolt hole and the addition of a nice leather slip-on recoil pad will make it more shoulder friendly. ;)

I put a break on my 7mm Rem Mag (700).
Max loads kick like a .243 !
Shooting from the bench kicks up gravel though !
Two types of breaks - one vents forward (less effective breaking, but quieter); the other vents back for most effective breaking.
