8mm Mauser+185 CoreLokt=? powder

I have bought a quantity of 185 grain Corelokt bullets for my 8mm Mausers and can find no load data specifically for this bullet. I currently have RL-15 and H335 in stock. Any ideas? Thank You in advance for any info.

Are those mauser bullets or 8mm Magnum bullets?  You might look over in Steve's pages.

I have loaded the 185 grain corelokt in the Yugo heavy ball amo just by substituting bullets. I sort of worked up to it by pulling the 196 grain bullet and removing 4 grains then 3 etc. till I shot some with the original powder charge. Shot fine. The bullet was originally made for the 8MM Remington magnum but for light game. Though it exited the only hog I took with this ammo I could tell it expanded. It also hit closer to my iron sights than the standard ball ammo. As to powders and starting loads you could use data from the Speer manual for the 200 grain bullet as a starting point. Speer lists 42.0 grains of H335 as max under their 200 grain bullet. This gives slightly over 2300 fps.

 Both my brothers and I have 8mm Mausers and my nephew will hunt with one this year.

 So I bought a 500 pack of the Corelokt bullets to feed these rifles.

 I have often used Speer 200 grain in the past and decided to try the bulk corelokt bullets for the economics and to have a larger quantity on hand.

I had assumed the 185's were designed for the Mauser since since there are so many of these rifles as compared to the 8mm magnum.

I've just done basically the same thing after 44 years with my 8mm Persian Carbine. I've used 200gr Nosler Partitions with 50gr of Hodgdon's BallC2 for over 20 years as my Wyoming Elk load of choice, while at the same time, my hunting partner was using factory loaded Coreloks with tremendous success in his 308Win. I stumbled onto a "buy" of 185gr Coreloks and figured it needed a try. My chronograph says they are slower than the 200gr Nosler with the same powder charge, and not very different from the Sierra 175gr, but if we are talking economical efficiency, than the Corelok wins. It is way cheaper than anything short of my cast bullets, and the Idaho Whitetail Buck I took with the Corelok this fall "went down faster than anything I'd ever seen", according to my hunting partner. My load development has not progressed very far and the load used was 46gr of Hodgdon's H4895extreme with the Remington 185gr Corelok. I expect it would probably "max" in my rifle about 5 or 6 grains higher, but I don't push the pressure anymore and that carbine barrel will really light up the sky with even the low factory pressures. I've used all the mainstream bullets and several custom and cast bullets. I do like shooting cast in all my guns, but believe the Coreloks have found a home. I believe the answer to your question is. according to the manuals, any powder that will work for the 175gr and the 200gr with similar design, will work with the 185gr. Incidentaly, my rifle puts the 150gr and the 175gr so close together that the groups overlap. The 200gr prints about an inch and a half lower at 100yards. The 185gr falls in the middle. Nothing Earth-shattering here, and nothing I need to change the sights for. I like that, I like that a lot.

I use 48 gr of H4895 under the 185 gr Remington in W-W cases.  Out my Yugo 47/24 with 6X scope they run 2592 fps (15 ft from muzzle) and 5 shots regularly go into 1 1/2" at 100 yards.  An excellent load/bullet for deer/elk. That is not a max load in my rifle as I worked up to 49 gr without pressure problems. Suggest you work up to it as I did.

I use 49 gr of IMR 4350 to get 2334 fps  -not a top end load but very acurrate! My Milsurp G98/40 just loves this load and with open sites is plenty out to 200 yards!

My 8mm mausers like IMR 4064 with 180 grain Nosler bullets and Varget with 200 grain Speer bullets
