When will they stop?

It was bad enough that we sat by and did nothing when the Government decided to take a TRILLION DOLLARS away from us to bail out Wall Street and Bankers.  Now they are talking about extending that bail out to the auto industry.  When will it end?  Who will be holding their hand out next?  This has to stop!  We can't bail out everybody!  Our government is putting us on the fast track to socialism in its extremist.  We the people should not allow this to go any futher.  I don't know what to do.  I don't know how we can stop it.  Call, write, and email your senators, congressmen, news stations, news papers, president, governor, friends, family, or anyone who will listen.  Let's make it be known that we are not happy with our governments actions.  If that doesn't help then I think it will be time to discuss futher action!  Inaction and complaining isn't working.  We have the power to make a difference if we just choose to use it!

Here is an article from Time magazing outlining why GM needs to be bailed out.

For months, General Motors had been telling everyone who would listen that bankruptcy was not an option. It had a $30 billion cash pile and plans to restructure the company as the economy rebounded and 2007 U.S. auto sales topped 16 million units.
 
Then came October. Sales plummeted an astounding 45% over the same period last year, a result of a slowing economy and a dearth of financing for would-be car buyers. Total U.S. car and light-truck sales this year could come in at 13.5 million, 2.6 million fewer than last year. "That's in nobody's business plan," says Kimberly Rodriguez, an automotive specialist with Grant Thornton. "The best planning in the world cannot survive that fluctuation." It's now clear that GM can't survive as an ongoing entity without massive federal assistance. The company is burning through more than $2 billion each month. It has $16 billion left. As if they were aboard a dirigible losing altitude, GM's bosses have been frantically throwing all manner of stuff overboard — retiree health-care benefits, people, assets, new car design — to conserve $5 billion. But 2009 is the year of reckoning for GM and the rest of the domestic auto industry, if not the economy as a whole. The GM crisis is raising once again the issue of how far the government should go in rescuing banks, insurance companies, mortgage holders, credit-card issuers and now carmakers. GM has no doubts about it. "Immediate federal funding is essential in order for the U.S. automotive industry to weather this downturn," GM president Fritz Henderson admitted to investors during a conference call in which GM announced a third-quarter loss of $2.5 billion.

Going back 3 pages I don't see any topics you have started.

That's what makes this so difficult.  This would be very simple to sort out if these politicians were just out of control, and refused to step down after being voted out of office.
The thing is, they are out of control, criminals on top of criminals, and certain segments of our populace keep electing more criminals.

GM has three problems.  

1) Upper management is highest paid in the industry.
2) Half of their workers are retired with full pensions and medical insurance for life.  
3) GMAC financing, which includes home mortgages as well as vehicles.

You don't see Foreign owned companies asking for hand outs.  Alabama has Mercedes, Honda, Hundai factories, and right across the border in Georgia they just built a Kia plant.  They seem to be doing fine.  

Tennessee has a Toyota truck plant.  Toyota was building one in Mississippi.  Don't know where some of the others are.  What happened to layoffs when things were down?

Palin speaks her mind and gets my attention.  I thought a public figure thinking this way was rare.  No wonder McCain kept her shut up!  I hope to see more gov officials coming out against the liberal masses.  I know it is a lot to hope for but hope and prayer is all we have left.

MIAMI, Florida (CNN) -- Former Republican vice presidential nominee Gov. Sarah Palin sharply questioned expanding the federal economic bailout plan Thursday during her first extended remarks since the end of the presidential campaign.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin talks to reporters at the GOP governors' group meeting Thursday in Miami, Florida.

Addressing fellow GOP governors and party leaders at the Republican Governors Association convention in Miami, Florida, Palin criticized the growing list of industries and others seeking federal assistance.

"We're hearing now more talk of additional taxpayer bailouts ... for companies, for corporations, perhaps even states now who may be standing in line with their hands out despite, perhaps, some poor management decisions on their part that helped tank our economy," she said.

"Republicans can help shore [these sectors of the economy] up without getting any more addicted to opium, other people's money. We need to have a rational discussion. What and when is enough enough?"

Palin stressed the need for what she called greater economic "accountability and personal responsibility" while urging "conservative solutions to these economic challenges."

The Alaska governor also urged her party to take the lead on the issue of ethics, arguing that the GOP "had better lead with ethics reform and [help bring] an end to the self-dealing and corrupt special interests on Wall Street and in Washington that contributed to the housing crisis and elements of the economic collapse."

Palin said that a "bigger federal government and more unfunded mandates hurt the economy and our states."

I referred to you as an ignorant sheep not sheeple... GB and myself are the big bad wolves of GBO and if you cross the invisible line then I step in and thus you become the sheep that the big bad wolf attacks. As to your political views I haven't a clue as I have not read that many of your posts and thus make no insinuations about them. The reason for the ignorant comment to compound the sheep comment is because you must not understand who you was attacking... Would you stand by and let another person attack your wife in your home or even on your website if you had one... i think we are all frustrated and scared a bit.   

 i was notified thursday that my job was eliminated.  i have bumping rights so i will survive this.  but there is added stress for me and the wife.  we are trying to figure where we are going next, and tension has been high in our house.  i told her thursday after we blew up on each other that we both have to realize the situation for what it is, and work through it; all while not turning on each other.   

   the same applies here.   it is a time of high stress.  i dont think any of us like what is going on.   while we dont have to agree on everything,  let's not turn on each other.   
    anyhow,  this thread has turn out alright.   my best to all of you.

How many times, on how many forums have I seen this happen.
It's easy to say something on the computer that we might give a bit more thought to if we were face to face.
The good thing here is that it was talked out without getting into too much name calling and bat swinging.
We ARE family, and I do believe that if push came to shove we would all stand on the same line and say " It stops here!"
