250 lb Mule Deer Buck with 6.5x55, 120 grn. Barnes TSX

I had the great pleasure to shoot a nice Mule Deer in Montana with my 6.5x55.  I used a 120 gr. Barnes TSX over a moderate load of RL-19.  It was a hundred yard shot and the deer was a 10 yard flop with blood every where from the point of impact following the deer.  I am totally pleased with the performance of the caliber and the bullet.  My load used a moderate amount of RL-19.  Very accurate, sub-moa, not a lot of meat damage, in my tikka T-3.  What an underated caliber and bullet combination.  Extremely pleased.  Buckfever

Great job, did you get an exit wound? You will have lots of good eating ahead. Charlie

CONGRATULATIONS!!

The 6.5X55 is a very nice efficient cartridge!! I dont have allot of experience with the all copper slugs, but many like them. Glad it worked so well for you.

Great exit wound.  There was snow so there was a wide blood trail on both sides of the animal as he fled the 10 ft.  Just can't be happier with this combination for deer.   Buckfever
