44 mag
« on: November 17, 2008, 02:46:50 PM »
Bought my youngest son a 44 mag handi last year to hunt deer with in Indiana this year.  he couldn't make the annual trip so I took it out after a few hours of shooting to get the scope dialed in.  Was impressed to see that I was out-shooting my two buddies with their in-line muzzle loader at 100 and 150 yds.  I was consistently shooting 3 in groups with XP 240 Hornady ammo.  Very pleased.  I took a buck last Sunday at 80 yds; hit right where I aimed, right front shoulder.  He lunged on impact and dropped after 60 yds.  I am tickled to death with this rifle and encourage everyone who is thinking about making the purchase to not wait any longer.

Did you take any pictures? Would love to see them if you have any.

There was an article in the local Sunday paper saying that the economy is in a downturn mode. The only thing that is growing are gun sales.

Congrats on the deer and the rifle. Loved to hear it, as I will pick up my Handi in .44 mag about the first of Dec. Would of gotten it out this week, but decided to get a reloading set up started instead, since I'm not getting to hunt this year anyway.  :)

I shot my new Handi 44 last week.  1" at 50 yards with open sights.  I can't wait to put a scope on her.

The 180 XTP's are absolute death on anything inside of 200 yds. I am really surprised by this little rifle. Four of us bought them and I've heard no complaints yet. Shot a doe at 50 yds. and an 8 point buck at 150 last weekend and I was impressed! Never touch a slug gun again!!
