I am a longtime wingshooter, but now live in an area where there really are no ducks. I have hunted and killed deer with rifle, shotgun, handgun and bow, but have never hunted with the fabled firestick. I have read all the great posts on which gun to buy and why, and I am generally convinced that the Encore would be the best choice for me. However, I can't seem to convince the "boss" that I need to spend that much on a BP rifle when I could buy two of most other kinds. Plus in her "expert" opinion, they look the same  . Thus, it seems that I will be settling for an Optima.
The question is this: What are the pros/cons of the longer barrel? I'm guessing that longer=better accuracy and shorter=lighter and easier to maneuver in a stand. Aside from that, are there some definite thoughts either way? Looking for some input from the veterans.
