Pro Hunter Thumbhole Question?
« on: November 28, 2008, 01:15:46 PM »
Problem a local sporting good store is closing there doors and I went in there. Looking for Encore stuff nothing but clerk said they had Real Tree stock missing barrel! Asked to look at it she brought out new in box SS Pro Hunter frame with RealTree Flex Tec Thunbhole stock and forend. Total $297.72 out the door including taxes and fee for back ground check. Oh no I bought it don't tell wife!

Never had a thumbhole and I read earlier thread by Rudy and those who have them love them. HAS ANYONE HAD ONE AND DIDN'T LIKE IT? Need to decide cause I've never shot one. Thinking about trading it classified section for regular stock while it's new.

Thanks Hog

Tried one before buying my Encore, and didn't like it.  It just didn't fit me well in the palm area, and having the "bridge" over top of my thumb got in my way going up to cock the hammer.  I have tried and liked other thumbhole stocks on other rifles, but on the Encore it doesn't work for me.

A thumbhole stock for both the Encore & Contender is my favorite type.

I took an Encore on trade that had the thumbhole and thought I would not like it but my opinion has changed 180 degrees and wouldn't not have one.
Yes, I know it's cocked, It's got bullets too.

Well after shooting mine several times since I bought it I really do like it. I don't think it would hurt its value if you used it for a bit to decide if you like it. Oh and we won't tell your wife either!!!!
