AR books
« on: December 03, 2008, 09:08:00 PM »
I would like to learn more about AR rifles.  Can any one suggest some good AR books?  I'd like to get some on both overall information on ARs, as I know very little about them, and some books that have the nuts and bolts on care, maintenance, and gunsmithing ARs.

This is the most complete assembly book I have found on the AR. It is geared more on trying to get around the government with a cast unfinished lower and finishing yourself. I could care less about that, but walks you through step by step what you need and how to build a complete rifle from parts. I built my first 2 rifles off of this book, served me well.

This one is a pretty complete history of the M16/AR. Shows advancements from the original stoner and A1 variants up to the m4. Has a pretty good guide on current options available for the newer platforms.
Published 2004 so pretty current and relative to today's market.

This is another history book, not as good as the one above but worth a read it you pick it up used.

This one is a great beginners guide. Should be the standard issue military primer for the M16. Reads in a very direct and beggin er fashion. Great book would recommend anyone to start on this, then go to the gunsmith books afterwards.

This one is a good beginners assembly guide. Has a few good tips to make the job easier. Would compliment the first book well as a primer to it.

Sorry, I'm not a book reviewer, maybe some other fellows will list some more for you.
