Broken Ramrod in my T/C Scout
« on: November 19, 2008, 07:47:21 PM »
Hey guys,

I recently had an accident ;D and my ramrod broke off inside the barrel of my T/C Scout.  Here in lies the problem.  Those of you who are familiar with the T/C Scout Rifle know that there is no breach plug in a Scout.  My thoughts are disassemble the rifle, remove the nipple, and use an air compressor to blow out the ramrod and cleaning jag.  Anyone else have any ideas????  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

That sounds like a safe and good way to go but another option would be to weld a sheet metal screw on to a brass cleaning rod screw it into the ram rod and pull it out. you will need to check the broken rod for the correct size screw. If the ramrod is not hollow then that will not work. you might also try a piece of wire with a couple of loops in it that will just go over the rod drop it down over the rod and hope it will grab and let you pull it out. If you had a tight cleaning patch on the jag you may have a big problem. Any way others will have more ideas to help.Good luck and let us know what worked. If you do go with the air I would put some light gun oil down the barrel so the patch would be lubed and not try to move it out dry

take real small diameter wire and make nose out of it first put on rod you have broken off then put down the barrle as fare as you can get it then give it a snug tug to tighten it up then give  gun a spin five or six times you want to wrap the wire around the rod. then try to pull it out .THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART WARE LEATHER GLOVES YOU WILL CUT YOUR HARD ALL TO MUSH IF YOU DONT
