Doe scents/attractants
« on: November 22, 2008, 07:24:04 AM »
Hey guys, I was just wonderin about somethin. What do y'all think about scent sprays like doe in estrus scent sprays and stuff like that? I've used some alittle but not much. Do y'all think it helps/works? I got some the other day and didnt know if worked/ helped or spooked them (it was doe in estrus intended for the rut). Thanks

In my VERY limited experience they didn't work. It could be that I used it at the wrong time. I have read on some of the sites that for example if you use standing doe estrus too early in the rut it just confuses the bucks. I would think that they expect the does to go through a certain progress and not jump to the ready stage. I would also think they would know the scent of the does in the area and realize this one doesn't belong. I don't really know though.

What I always thought would be effective would be to get glands or bladder from another hunter's buck that was taken from close by. Make a rub or scrape and use the gland or urine to mark it. I would think that would get the dominant buck in the area upset and he would be anxious to remark his territory. I have nothing to back this up, but seems logical to me.
