20 guage wingmaster for turkey
« on: November 29, 2008, 07:33:26 AM »
In the spring i'm gonna try turkey hunting.  I have a Rem. Wingmaster 20 guage pump with a shiny blue barrel, etc and shiny wood stock.  Would I be chancing being spotted because of the shiny gun.  I also have a 12 ga Stoger over-under.  What's the better choice.  Or should I use this as an excuse to run up my visa card with a new gun.

I use a 20 ga. exclusively.  I think it hits harder than my 12ga.  Kids around here use a .410.  Head shots at under 40 yd.  Dead is dead.
If you are worried about shine just wrap some burlap or camo cloth around barrel.  I think the most important aspect of not scaring turkeys is to keep still and wear tinted glasses to hide eyes.
I have had them at my feet without flaring off.
