.270 & 110 grain Seirra

I have been looking around on this board to see what powder you guy's use when you load your .270 with the 110 grain Seirra's. I have some 4064 I use for my .243.

Would you recommend something else?

The IMR-4064 should work just fine in your .270. The Lyman 48th selected it as the most accurate in their data testing using a universal receiver with the Sierra 110 gr. SPT.
If you have some Varget, that is another option.

I shot Hornaday 110s with 4350. Made sub moa groups occasionally. But then, Lyman accuracy loads are usually hard to beat too.

I was loading the 110-grain Sierra for my son many years ago and had good results with H-4831.  46th Edition of the Lyman Manual shows H4831 potentially being the most accurate.

A .270 was my first center fire varmint rifle. My load of choice was a case full of H-4831. Back then I was paying  $ 1 a lb. for it.  :'(

And that was a good load, you almost didn't need a measure or scale just fill the case up and tip out enough that you did'nt completely cruch the powder, and stick a bullet on top.

I guess I left some info out. I am also looking for a powder for 130 and 150 grain bullets as well. So maybe I want to go with H4831 as my all around on the .270?

No I wouldn't, we were reminising about cheap.  H4831 will cost you some velocity with lighter bullets, and it wasn't my most accurate, it was just cheap, and when you're shooting highpower silhoette on a beginning employees salery you have a different set of priorities.

What do most guy's use for powder with the 130s and 150s?

I guess i'll use to he 4064 for the 110s.

The old Jack OConner load with 4064 always shot 130s very well for me. I think we're not supposed to post loads on these threads, and I think his load was a bit higher than modern loading manuals show, but with good bullets I could count on groups around an inch. 4350 shoots 150s very well, and will also make pretty good 130 gr loads. I don't think 4064 will push your 150 gr bullets at top speed.
